The competition sounds like the "Iron Man" of motorcycling. 2000 entrants reduced to 24 competitors who are pretty much all stars in their fields within motorcycle racing. The winner is Christian Iddon and not Andy Carlile, who's the implied winner in the first article. A second article, link is here, from motorcyclenews.com, claims that Supermoto star Christian Iddon won.
OK. Tracked down the official website. MCN got it right; it was Iddon! Sorry, Andy.
