Saddam and the Great Bike Escape
Baghdad- From a story by CORKY SIEMASZKO of the New York Daily News- Saddam Hussein reported that he felt he was set up when captured from the fox hole in Tikrit. Saddam had been changing locations every few hours or every day and had an escape plan worked out for the hiding place that involved escaping through the trap door and down a tunnel. An accomplice was then supposed to whisk the dictator away on a motorbike that was hidden in some nearby bushes.
When the time came, Saddam claims he passed out while in the tunnel, which led him to conclude that the tunnel had been gassed. No word on whether it was a KTM, BMW or local brand.
