Tip from Thailand: Be Careful with Gasohol

Phuket, Thailand- from the Phuket Gazzette- Jef posts a rant about the Petroleum Authority of Thailand (PTT). Apparently, bikes over 10 years old don't react well to gasohol (aka ethanol). Attendants at the PTT stations don't inform customers that there are issues with gasohol in older vehicles. Not sure what happens when you put gasohol in older vehicles, or which models of newer motorcycles or motorbikes are designed to use gasohol. The take-away from this article is that you should familiarize yourself with the owner's manual and make sure before you fuel up, what the minimum requirements are. Odds are that if you have a large displacement or high performance engine, you can serious mess the engine up by using ethanol.
