Buyer Picks Up $500K Auction Bike from Leno

John Tlapek, a resident of Cape Girardeau, MO, appeared on "The Tonight Show" recently to pick up the Harley Davidson motorcycle he won at auction on eBay. As he's done in the past for other causes, Jay Leno raised money for Hurricane Katrina relief by having celebrities autograph a new bike and then placing for auction on eBay. Tlapek, a private equities investor and president of the Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents, submitted his bid late on the final day of the auction and was later notified that his was the winning bid at $500,100.
As for Tlapek's thoughts on Leno- "He seemed like a real nice guy."
